Fernando de Noronha enchanted Europe in 1503 when Américo Vespucio named it as a "paradisiacal place" in the middle of Atlantic Ocean. The small archipelago was declared a Marine National Park in 1988. Noronha has a small and simple infrastructure for tourism, a lot of Inns spread out around the island. The island has many unspoiled beaches and interesting wildlife, such as sharks and turtles. Visitors can enjoy boat trips on "Dolphins Bay" and jeep tours around the island. It is also the "diving Mecca" for divers all over the world with a great variety of sites to explore and fish to see. Two types of diving can be done: beginning dives and experienced ones (certified divers only).
