Day 01 - RIO DE JANEIRO
Arrive RIO DE JANEIRO this morning and tranfer to the select hotel in Rio for a three nights stay. The rest of the morning and afternoon is free to relax. This evening features a welcome dinner at one of Rio´s famous churrascaria restaurants, followed by a colorful, exciting show focusing on Brazilian music, dance and folklore traditions.(B,D).
Day 02 - RIO DE JANEIRO
This morning starts with a tour to Rio´s fabled Sugar Loaf Mountain, set at the mouth of Guanabara Bay and reached via series of cable car trips. After admiring the breathtaking view, you will proceed to downtown Rio for a fascinating "Secrets of Old Rio" walking tour. Learn about the historical, cultural and artistic traditions that make Rio special. This is a unique, off-beat look at a remarkable city. Balance of tha day is free. Overnight at select hotel
Day 03 - RIO DE JANEIRO
Start the day with a tour to corcovado, Rio´s most dramatic mountain-top vista, atop wich sits the imposing Christ statue. Stop en route to visit the gracious Largo de Boticario, a beautifully preserved neightborhood of colonial architeture. This afternoon features a trip to the Royal city of PETROPOLIS, the Emperor´s summer residence, set in the mountains outside Rio. This alpine-like village is home to many interesting buildings of the imperial area.(B)

Day 04 - Rio - Belo Horizonte
Morning transfer to the airport. Arrive BELO HORIZONTE by noon to the 5-star OTHON PALACE HOTEL for a two night stay. "Belo" is the third largest city in Brazil, and is a planned city, designed in a star pattern after Washington, DC. This afternoon features a city tour. Guided tour, firstly visiting the Church of St. Francis of Assisi. This church is a fine example of Brazilian religious architecture, and was designed by Aleijadinho, with wood and soapstone sculptures. Following this you will visit the Museum of the School of Minas and Church of Our Lady of the Pilar Evening free.(B)
Day 05 - Bele Horizonte - Oro Preto
Today is a very full day, beginning with a scenic ride through the mountains terrain of Minas Gerais state, learning about the immensre mineral wealth that came from this area during colonial times. Your destination is Ouro Preto ("Black Gold"), a perfectly preserved Baroque village nestled in the mountains. Once the richest city in the hemisphere, this town will enchant you as you spend the balance of the day being guided throug its streets, museums and squares. Late return to the hotel.

Day 06 Bele Orizonte - SALVADOR DA BAHIA
D Morning transfer to the airport and your flight to the coast. Arrive mid-day in SALVADOR DA BAHIA, Brazil´s colonial capital, and transfer to the select HOTEL for a three night stay. The afternoon is free to relax by the pool. Tonight features a welcome dinner of Bahian specilities at Solar do Unhao, a beutifully preserved old state house on the bay´s edge that once served as a loading station for slaves. Afterwards, a wonderful show of bahian music and dance is presented.(B,D)
Day 07 - Bahia
Begin with a morning walk tour of the Old City, known as the Pelourinho area. This recently restored district features the largest concentration of preserved Baroque-period architeture in the New World. It is absolutely fascinating, and your guide will reveal this treasures to you as he leads you through the cobblestone streets. The afternoon and evening are free. We you try dinner at Casa da Gamboa. (B)
Day 08 - Bahia - Cachoeira
Full day excursion to the delightful colonial town of CACHOEIRA. Another example of colonial architeture, this town is also note-worthy as the home of the sisterhood of the Boa Morte ("Good Death"), an anciet African sorority connected to the Candomble religion. We will visit them as well as other people and places of interest in the Bahian countryside. (B,L)
Day 10 - Bahia
Last day in Bahia is free. Other optional sightseeing trips will be available. Afternoon transfer to the arirport for your flight home, arriving early the following morning. (B,D)
